Brett Jones

Mr. Jones has been employed by the association since 1999; Mr. Jones is currently responsible for ensuring that effective operations and infrastructure are in place to support association members and staff, as well as ensuring that the organization is well positioned in a rapidly evolving and competitive environment by being an agent for ongoing organizational change.

Mr. Jones is also responsible for maintaining the associations’ safety program and governmental affairs program.  Prior to being the association Vice President of Operations, Mr. Jones was their Director of Governmental Affairs & Safety.  In that capacity since 1999, Mr. Jones was responsible for executing the associations’ legislative and governmental relations agenda.

While operating in this position, Mr. Jones created the Contractors’ Grassroots Network (CGN), which consists of industry advocates who convey to their legislators and local officials the association’s position on key issues affecting the construction industry and Arizona. CGN members express to elected officials our questions, concerns and opinions on legislation that may affect the construction industry. CGN members are furnished with the necessary information to effectively communicate with their state officials, district legislators and local officials.  As a result, since this program was established thousands of letters, e-mails, and phone calls have been made and sent resulting in many successes for the association and the Arizona construction industry.

Prior to 1999, Mr. Jones was a liaison between the Indiana State University students and the City of Terre Haute as the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Student Government Association at Indiana State University.  Prior to that Mr. Jones served and extensive internship in the governmental affairs department of the Indiana Manufacturers Association.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Supervision from Indiana State University in 1998. In addition, Mr. Jones has completed training in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) #500:  Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health for the Construction Industry and is administered by the United States Department of Labor.

In April of 2007, Mr. Jones was appointed to the State Compensation Fund (SCF Arizona) Board of Directors by then Governor Janet Napolitano.  SCF Arizona is a 501(c)27 non-profit organization designed to provide Arizona employers with quality workers’ compensation insurance, benefits and services at the lowest possible cost.  SCF Arizona’s Board of Directors has declared dividends every year since 1970 creating an unprecedented economic infusion for Arizona businesses.  As a member of the Board of Directors Mr. Jones acts as one of five trustees over $3.6 billion in policyholder assets.  Mr. Jones currently serves as the Chair of the Corporate Responsibility Committee and Governance Committee.

Mr. Jones is also involved with several organizations such as the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, the Valley Citizens League and is member of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Jones is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) which was founded in 1977 for the purpose of creating a membership organization for directors and boards of U.S. and multinational companies. Mr. Jones, his wife Lena and son Wyatt reside in Avondale.
